Detective Bureau

The investigation of crimes and incidents which occur within Mansfield Township is a primary job responsibility of the Mansfield Township Police Department.  In order to properly perform this important duty, the Department established a full time Investigations Bureau on November 6, 2006.  To staff this Bureau, also created at that time was the first full time detective position in the Departmentís history.  Although the initial investigation of most incidents is performed by the uniformed members of the Patrol Bureau, the Departmentís detective responds to and assumes the lead role in the investigation of any serious or complex incident.  Additionally, the detective is able to dedicate the time necessary to provide prompt follow-up on reported crimes to enable the Department to successfully conclude the investigation.

In addition to reactive investigative work, the Investigations Bureau maintains databases which allow analysis of crime trends.  With this information, the Department is able to provide intelligence-based policing and enact proactive measures to prevent new crimes from occurring.
